Volunteer at Ruarwe Health Centre

If you are interested in volunteering in Africa and looking for a new challenge where you can share your skills and knowledge then Ruarwe health centre could be just the place.
 
Ruarwe health centre is a government clinic that provides free-of-charge basic health care and is supported by Phunzira who look to provide doctors and nurses. As a rural, primary health care centre it sees a wide variety of medical problems ranging from infectious diseases to trauma to antenatal care. Phunzira believes in sustainable health development and has its focus in prevention rather than cure. In partnership with Nyumba ya Masambiro we are providing educational workshops for all age groups covering a variety of topics such as HIV, nutrition and sanitation.

We are looking for vibrant and enthusiastic health professionals at all levels of training and specialisation (this includes elective students) who would like to be part of this challenging and rewarding project.

Donate medical equipment and supplies

Phunzira is very grateful for the medical equipment that has already been donated such as gloves, syringes, an otoscope and medications. As a government health centre resources are quite scarce and delivery of supplies often erratic. We are frequently running out of simple but essential things like paracetamol.

The Health Boat
We are currently fundraising for a project called 'The Health Boat' which will help people access better health services and enable remote health care providers to run mobile clinics to surrounding villages. In an area so isolated with such little infrastructure we expect the community health boat to make a huge difference to many lives.
